Quarantine Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips

During this time of quarantine, we could all use a little comfort. Am I right? I believe this is it, this is comfort. Banana Bread with chocolate chips. I made this recipe years ago and have never looked back. It is by far THE BEST! It’s moist, decadent, and decently easy. If you have little ones at home, you could make this together to help pass the time. Take the time to teach them about kitchen safety and measurements. Hey, it counts as math right? Or even Home Economics! It’s something that they don’t learn behind a desk at school so take advantage of this opportunity. May this recipe bring…

    Weekend Waffles

Making a big breakfast on either Saturday or Sunday has been a tradition around our house for years now. For me, it just makes so much sense. After a week of rising early and rushing around to get everyone where they need to be in the mornings, it’s so nice just to chill one morning a week. There’s nothing better than a slow Sunday. Lounging around in our pajamas and then making a late breakfast together are the memories I want my kids to remember forever. It’s a fun tradition!  Over the years we have mastered an amazing buttermilk waffle recipe. They are so so good and you can dress…

6 of the Best kid-friendly Activities in Iceland

My family and I had the most amazing opportunity to visit Iceland over Spring Break. This incredible country had been on my radar for a while now and to see it in person was more than I could ever ask for. There were times where I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing. I remember trying to photograph this amazing cliff covered in moss and when I would look down at the photo on the camera, it just didn’t look the same as it did in person. There’s just something so unique about seeing it all in real life.  At the time of our trip, my kids were ages 6…

North Pole Hot Chocolate with Peppermint Whipped Cream

One of my favorite things to do with the kids during Christmas time is to walk around all the ‘lit up’ neighborhoods in San Diego. There are so many neighborhoods that go all out with Christmas lights, it’s unbelievably impressive! We get bundled up and of course, bring a jug of hot chocolate. I’ve recently mastered my hot chocolate recipe and it is a winner! It’s decadent, smooth, and satisfying! It truly hits the spot. The kids also consider this a magical drink because they think it’s from the North Pole. Let’s get warm and cozy! Ingredients for Hot Chocolate: 2 cups Bittersweet chocolate chips or chocolate pieces. (Please use…

    Authentic Chicken Tortilla Soup

It’s soup weather! There’s nothing like having a hot pot of soup simmering on the stove just waiting for you. My favorite kind of night is when I can put on my pajamas, light a fire, and sink into my cozy couch with a hot bowl of soup. It’s the best! And what makes it even better is when my kids actually like it! Now, that’s the avocado on top. Get it? Kinda like the cherry on top of a sundae? You get it. Okay, so obviously if you look online for a Chicken Tortilla soup recipe you will instantly be overwhelmed with about a million and one recipes to…

Easy Slow- Cooker Chicken & Dumplings

Decking the halls is one of the best parts of the holiday season. There’s just something so special about beginning the Christmas season by breaking out all the decor. Every year, I try to make this particular evening as special as possible. I want to give my kids the fondest memories imaginable. I love sticking to tradition and having a plan. This helps to make everything a little less chaotic. Usually, we wait until after Thanksgiving to put up our tree, but this year Thanksgiving is so late. Plus we aren’t having Thanksgiving at our house so we decided to just go for it this year. Usually, I like to…

The best ways to see Tokyo, Japan

After exploring Kyoto, we took the bullet train back to Tokyo where we spent the remainder of our trip exploring Shinjuku and Shibuya. There is so much to do in this area, it’s insane! One thing I know for sure is that you will never go hungry when you are in Tokyo. The city is littered with restaurants! My husband found a nice hotel that was in the Shinjuku area. It was brand-spankin’ new! It had only been open for about 4 weeks and it was in the perfect location, in my opinion. The name of our hotel was Daiwa Roynet Hotel located in Nishishinjuku. Attached to the hotel was,…
